10 Things to Do in Northeast WI in October
I hope you enjoy the Busha Team's monthly list of 10 fun things to do in the area. Many of these events have made changes to allow for social distancing. Please check details carefully so that you know what to expect.
Here's what's happening this month:
1. CREEPY CRAWLIES HALLOWEEN EVENT
Creepy Crawlies 2020 will be completely outdoors and located on our unique trail system (new this year!). You will be able to choose your own trail adventure by selecting your route for the evening (staff will be at trail-heads to assist and help with event flow). The event will be focused on the four Nature-Halloween themed trails. Dress for the weather - rain or shine. $8/person in advance, $11/person at the door.
When: Friday October 2, 2020 - Saturday October 3, 2020. 6pm - 9pm

2. FALL LIGHTHOUSE FESTIVAL
Similar to the larger spring Door County Lighthouse Festival, the Door County Maritime Museum offers a couple of its most popular tours in October. Take this opportunity to see lighthouses and enjoy the vibrant fall colors as well.

3. AMERICAN VETERAN'S TRAVELING TRIBUTE
Please join us for this FREE event to pay respects to our veterans. The AVTT Travelling Wall is an 80% replica and is the largest traveling wall in existence!
When: Oct 8, 2020 - Oct 11, 2020. Wednesday 3:00 pm to Sunday 12:00 pm

4. SCARECROW FESTIVAL
Join us for a tour through the gardens to view the scarecrows that local businesses, organizations and families designed. Attendees will judge the scarecrows and have the opportunity to spend the day exploring the 500 acre property, participating in family-friendly activities like fishing, arts & crafts, fall stories and so much more! This event will be a very safe, family friendly outdoor fall activity for the community.

5. LORRIE MORGAN LIVE
The Arts Council presents country songstress Lorrie Morgan!

6. DOWNTOWN APPLETON SOUP WALK
Enjoy a stroll down College Avenue and along the riverfront in Downtown Appleton for our annual soup walk. Stop at participating restaurants for soup samples and vote for your favorite! You can also hop on the Downtown Cool Trolley and ride from restaurant to restaurant. Great way to spend a fall day! Tickets go on sale Oct. 1 for $20.

7. ROMP IN THE SWAMP "MASK"ERADE
Celebrate the Autumn season at Bubolz Nature Preserve during the annual Romp in the Autumn Swamp. The event will include tractor hay rides, trick-or-treat trail, face painting, Halloween games, and a bonfire with s’more making. Fresh popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase.
When: Oct 17, 2020. 2-4pm and 5-7pm

8. HALLOWEEN CANDLELIGHT CAVE TOUR
Tour a cave by candlelight! Family-oriented event (kids 5+) with the focus on education, not fright. Not too scary; caves entered by stairs and ladders. Wear old clothes and layers. Anticipate getting a bit dirty!

9. CHOCOHOLIC FROLIC
Do You Love chocolate? The Chocoholic Frolic is a 5K, 10K (varies per city) and KidsK. There is something fun for all ages and abilities. Participants receive a race shirt, chocolate themed medal and a small box of chocolates from Abdallah Candies. Are you competitive? The 5k and 10k (10k based on location) are chip timed and you will be rewarded with chocolate at the finish line. Just want to take your sweet time? Run, jog, or walk your way through these courses!

10. HAUNTED HEARTHSTONE
Join us in our beautifully restored 1880's mansion for an evening of spooky tales of Halloween past. You'll tour the decorated house guided by costumed characters. Not appropriate for children.
